Its a question that gets asked alot on here i know, but i never seen anyone answer!
My 1.4 8v does 230 miles to a full tank of fuel. No leaks, and ive added addative before now, to clean of injectors etc, but to no avail. PLus drove it like a granny for a tank, still got 240ish. Anyone got any ideas as to why, as its getting beyond a joke now!

yup, thats a good one kerry. the car would idle slightly higher as well. Also check the fuel filter, how clean is your induction kit or panel filter.

Fitted new thermostat about 4 weeks ago, still no change. Fitted new Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor a couple of weeks ago, still no change. It surges forward at low speeds, which makes me think its injecting too much fuel, but we had it on the emissions test, and theres no fuel coming out of exhaust. Any other ideas?

sounds like the autochoke could be stuck on all the time if it surges forward at low speed.

How would i test to see if this is stuck on all the time, because it sounds like it is that. It has alot of condensation coming out of the exhaust for ages after ive started it, alot-lot longer than my old saxo. does this sound right?

I work in a Ford main dealer, so its been into the garage hundreds of times, and noone can find a fault! Its not got a carburetter, therefore hasnt got a choke, so it cant be that. Im stumped, and skint!
