Why is it all about being different whilst making abominations of cars??
I'm all for seeing different cars but only if they look good, Jet Majenki's Astra... diff but a little odd (I quite like that one tho)
But take the UV car, yeah its different but its hideous... its a shame really that big wheels seem to dominate what happens to the rest of the car
everyone says 'oh gove them credit for making something different' but why when it looks like the back end of a horse??!!!!

yeah maximum i think 18's on a Corsa! I can see why companies may go bigger and bigger, but sometimes the wrok required to the rest of the car really doesn't help....
18's on C4 looked wicked whn that came out, cos it was subtle

why ?
it would be better if it grew in every way rather than people just always putting big wheels on cars, as appose to doing other things
its good that everyone has different tastes, if not modding would be boring

True, just IMO cars that are built to be different just look shite, I like some new trends but IMO thats all it is, wilder paint (and inevitably some very dodgy jobs) and big wheels seem 2 dictate the trends

Totally agree with Robbo's first post! The scene is shit now and I've totally gone off 'modded' cars in general.

you can pump hundreds, even thousands into your car, to make it credible, but its money you'll never get back.
i'd rather buy a faster standard car than have a slower more modified one.
any bigger than 16" on a hatch back is illogical IMO.
You cant make your car something its not.
i dont like spending too much on my corsa ,as all i see it as ,is a stepping stone to something nicer and faster
(i do love me wee sport tho!)
for example, i wouldnt dream of putting 19's and a stupid bodykit on a skyline, i'd just play with the engine. i suppose im into subtle yet brutal!
just my thoughts

i'd rather see 8/9" wide dished 14's on a corsa any day, miles better than 18's and 17's (too common). In ways I want euro to come in but then again it wouldnt be good if everyone was rolling around like it...

Subtle, Smooth and Classy is the way. Stupid spending 1000s of an ott kit that will get damaged if you drive it to the shops. Never get your money back and it makes it nigh on impossible to sell the car !

Modified cars that are practical are good but ott ones are pointless in my opinion, all very well saying it shows what the company can do but in the case of the latest UV corsa it doesnt look good does it!

Jets Astra is wacky but also aesthetically pleasing. You might call it impractical and you'd be right - but then so is every single concept car with huge wheels that manufacturers bring out to showcase new ideas. Look at the Vauxhall Lightening, that had 20" wheels and everyone was keen to see it put in to production like that!
There's room in the market for big kits, big wheels, interiors you'd be frightened to sneeze in, they're simply a showcase for workmanship and exuberance. However, the cars must actually look physically good which as we know is not often acheived by anyone in the modding scene.
If even Bertone and Pininfarina can be criticised for making ugly cars, and Chris Bangle at BMW can be blamed for taking the company in a new and strange direction even with the assistance of millions of dollars of BMW investment in technology, I'm sure some relatively unknown aftermarket bodyshopman has his work cut out with some P45 and a selection of wet and dry.
I'm not excusing some of the excuses for workmanship that are all too common these days though.
