I think that is the cat, if you take it off, you will fail the mot. The back box is the silencer.
If I'm wrong someone will correct me

No, it's the centre silencer he's on about... Between cat and Backbox
Which is fine MOT wise, and will make it loads louder!

It'll sound absolutley amazing!!! Ive got a sebring on mine and just got the middle pipe done on Friday. Someone said to me that it sounds like a TVR. As grateful as I was, it unfortunalty doesnt sound quite like a TVR but does sound better than any back box Ive heard on the market.

I've got a 1.2 16v Sxi - and Ive just fitted a full sebring system, center pipe + oval back box (removed center silencer)
and I was shocked by how loud it is...
bit raspy, when its cold, but as soon as its warmed up its a nice sound - Love it when I lift off / put clutch down - it splutters + burbles...
moddecorsaGSI, if you have a 1.2 8v it'll sound even nicer - a nice deep v8 style burble, probably not that much rasp which is a good thing.
