whilst the cars you mention are fairly quick, they are not exactly the fastest, nor the best handling, nor best build quality......
they are just not "the ultimate hot hatch"
Id say more like the Cooper S, Williams 1, Clio 172 (or indeed the 182), 306 GTi 6, ermmmm,,,, just a few that stand out to be better than the rest IMO

no classic shitters in my eyes dude, like i said, just my opinion!
Not one Uno turbo has felt safe, alot of FRST's i know of have gone pop (this was probably due to the driver!)
the punto GT would be the only car i would give credit to but they still handle like a wheelchair-bound hippo as standard

out of interest, how many re-builds has it had so far?
How much has actually been spent?
Does it still run the 1600 block???

Handling/Speed I'd say they are ultimate hot hatches. CTR, Cupra's, GTi-R are too big imo to be a hot hatch?! Same as 306 I guess. My fav is the 106 GTi - hot hatch should be cheap, quickish, handle well and pretty small!
