i have a terraced of my own and me n my dad are doing it up proper like for when i turn 19 next year. i have no job and if i wanted could move in if it was ready now. i dnt have to pay rent tho .
but yes u have water, leccy, gas, and then theres ur TV license, counsil take a load for shit like dustbins and that not sure what else u need.

best bet is goin down to estate agents and see how much houses are goin for, aslong as u have a job and its permanent i cnt see why u wont be able to manage living on ur own.

Last house I looked at buying was a 3-bed semi, with driveway & garage......£39,500!
Just got to look hard enough, have a look on http://www.rightmove.co.uk, that's where I've found most of the places I looked at.
Decided to rent for a few months in the end, moving into a 2-bed alarm-protected semi, with driveway & garage, tomorrow......all for £350 p/m, fully furnished.
Will help me clear some more debts, before I look to travel down Mortgage Road!

As already said, it depends on your location......at a worst-case scenario, multiply your salary by 3 for your mortgage, then deduct any debts you've currently got, and you have your realistic mortgage level......add to that the fact most mortgage-lenders won't pay 100% towards your new house, most will only pay 95% or even 90%, leaving you needing to scrape together a sizeable deposit.
Where you looking at moving to, and what sort of place do you want? 3-bedrooms, or are 2-bedrooms enough? Semi, or a terrace with a garage will suffice?

In worcestershire your looking at 80 to 120 thousand for a two/three bedroom terraced poissibly semi.
Mortgage is 3.5 times ur salary or some lenders will do 4 times. Also you have to take ur loand or any credit you have off of that figure. Also like Dan said you will probably have to do a 95% mortgage or lower so this means having 4,5,6 grand available for deposit.
Then you have to think about fees when buying the house like Stamp Duty, solicitor's fees and on and on. Basicly your looking at about 1500 down the drain in tax and solicitors fees.
It's and expensive business

I'm about to get a house and i'm getting a 80 to 85 grands property78 grand is mortgage then you add the 5% onto it which is 3900 thats what ive got to pay. Then I can add any extra I have onto that.
Then i'm going to pay about 1500 in tax's fees etc.
My repayments will be about £450 a month.
Elec will be about £120 ish a quarter
Water is about £50 a quarter
Council Tax is £55 a month roughly where I live
TV Licence is £12 a month
Then you have to pay for food.

More like 4.5k so that should leave you with a rough 7.5k for everything else.
