To determine the throttle valve position a sensor is required that converts the angle of the throttle valve into an electric current. This is accomplished by using a potentiometer. The potentiometer consists of a round carbon track with a wiper arm fitted to the throttle valve spindle. By giving a positive and negative to the carbon track ends, usually 5 volts, the wiper will provide a current. The level of the current is dependant upon the throttle valve angle.

if i can get to it i will squirt summet on it to see what happens
maybe it is sticking because it only comes up about 2 times a week
and revs its self up on its own
thanks

also i think its linked in some way to the idle air control valve (iac) and the exhaust gas recirculation valve (egr)
and on past experience these are common problems with vauxhall if u can locate them give them a clean up with carb cleaner or somethin and fingers crossed

and i also just found this if its any use
The code 22 is set if the voltage from the TPS is less than 0.2 volts for more than 2 seconds while the engine is running. Check the voltage on the wire connected to the wiper terminal of the TPS. It should vary from a few hundreds of millivolts to a little below 5 volts depending on the throttle position, and do this smoothly without bouncing the needle around (if you are checking it with an analog voltmeter).

basically get a volt meter and test the voltage on the wire and have a clean round if no improvement then u are lookin at replacin the throttle position sensor
if that dont cure it id go with idle air control valve and if that doesnt egr valve
and if it stil no good a box of matches
