Getting shot of my MR2 soon (for various reasons) set a limit of £2/3k for my next car. Would quite like a golf.......but which one????
Insurance is pretty much the same for them all, £600ish

From the above, I'd say VR6.
But personally I quite like the mk1 GTi's and Cabriolets.

VR6 if all you want is a motorway cruiser, and can afford to run it
mk2 16v if you want a car you can throw about and still put alot of newer cars to shame with - plus its cheap as chips to run and maintain

you`ll get a shitter of a VR6 for 2/3k, mk3 Gti 16v is pushing 4k for a minter, suppose you could find a decent one for 3k.

my 16v has never broke down once since the day i bought it, only things that have needed fixed are general wear & tear items, all of which are cheap as chips from the likes of EuroCar Parts

VR6's are ok but slow for what they are and handle like a whale, they also eat the petrol like theres no tomorrow.
