i got my car back friday night without power steering and drove it until tonight when Lee got it hooked up. Preferred it without PAS, seems like i'm getting more understeer with it. Before it felt like i could feel more of what was going on.

You don't have less grip of course.
Did you change the rack or just drive the PAS rack with no plumbing?

PAS rack with no plumbing, well, no belt. It was too long and rubbing on one of the engine mounts. Got a shorter belt now.

I was going to say don't forget that the ratios is different on the manual rack.
The ideal solution if you're in to steering feel - I looked in to this for mine - is electric assistance. Some of the manufacturers of this type of stuff were displaying at Autosport and had variable adjustment like the girl button (I forget its real name ) on the Stilo and some other new stuff.
Some were fully adjustable from feather-light to completely on your own with a dial on the dash.
Not cheap though!

the girly button on the fiat punto's is great. Whenever my mate isn't looking I press it, and all of a sudden he can't drive for shit

I didn't used to be a fan or PS and am still not in certain cars..
I had a 03 fiesta TDCi bag o' spanners hire car for work a while back and that power steering was awful, felt like I wasn't even driving, but my bro's civic esi has power steering and u get alot more 'feedback' if you get what I mean?

Parking a 2.0 16v corsa with no PAS and 195-50-15 Super soft compound tyres is a pain in the arms!
Also the more castor you run on the front suspension makes the steering even heavier

With my 17"s much preffered PAS, the weight of the wheels gave the steering feel, had a cinq sporting with no pas and a merit corsa with no pas, cant stand it tbh.
Much prefer mine, but with 14" wheels its like playing on the arcades, no feedback whatso ever
