the answer will be no as takes ages to load the pages if your on dial , and each page holds 25 posts and if all are preems then 25gifs at 250k each well your looking at little while

they could have a hing where if your not a premium member, you cant see them. and any preem that doesnt have Broardband can turn them off.

You could put a limit on the size anyways say 50kb a gif..... most images are about that anyways

Quick answer no, it's a large change to the code and they can't be compressed as well if they're animated either.
