Just picked up a lightweight race alternator for £18.50 Just as well it's cheap cos it's off a Nissan touring car so there'll be some fiddling with bracketry required. Still that's another 2 or 3 kilos shed from under the bonnet

I've got some longer trumpets going on next month; that should lift it to around 220bhp and more mid range torque. Beyond that it gets crazy - double injectors and wild cams. Would require even higher revs, steel crankshaft and ECU capable of staged injection for not a lot more horses. But 220bhp will be pretty quick, and theres a bit more weight that can be ditched

So what would I have to order from Vauxhall?

Just ring up and ask for a V-belt bottom pulley? What engine is it from?
