I just purchased a pair of smoked non e-marked rear lights. I was wondering what to do about reflectors or coloured bulbs etc... Will i need both or just coloured bulbs?? At the moment the colours wont shine through properly as its smoked all over, if that makes sense. Wanna do this right before i fit them.
Any advice appreciated

for the bulbs i'd use led lights, bit expensive but never lose their colour and are a very bright red, although you may need to cut away some of the inside of light to fit them
got mine mine from speeding.co.uk

Im getting those lights soon so i want to know some stuff too.
are those LEDs a direct replacement? wot i mean is do they screw in the same as standard ones? u say that u might have to cut away some of the light to fit them, is it because the LEDs are too big to fit through the holes in the light unit?

This is why i do not want to get the LED's. there must be an easier way. Like coloured bulbs or something. Plus mine has just passed its MOT so havent got to worry about that for ages yet.

the lights will still pass the MOT without the reflectors in. thats wot it says in the PVD Catalogue.
Nath ru saying that the brake lights etc. dont shine very well? cos Ill be getting pulled by the police all the time if thats right. I was thinking will Silvatec bulbs be ok?

I've got non E marked Ultra blue clusters, never had any problems despite not having any red reflectors. Some places won't issue an MOT without the reflectors, but Pinnacle Vauxhall in Luton has passed mine twice now with these clusters and no reflectors. I use coloured bulbs from Carnoiseur, only problem is the red ones fade to pink after a while. I'm going to look at maybe fitting some of my own leds in there soon.

You won't have red bulbs in your standard lights, they are regular clear bulbs. In light clusters with no red colouring, you need red bulbs to act as brake and rear lights. These are usually regular bulbs painted with red glass paint. Because the bulbs get hot, they eventually burn and discolour the red paint, so eventually leading to the lights shining pink.

I've got non e marked clear rears on my nova. Always passed the mot fine, just had to paint the fog light bulb red. Or you can have an optional reversing light

For the indicators get bulbs that are orange instead of red
The LED bulbs are good but the coloured bulbs only cost £2 a pair.

dnt so fookin lazy and just change them over to ur standard ones...
most places wont pass them for MOT even wit reflectors cos the indicators and brake lights and drving lights all need to be the legal colours

Well i painted them with nail varnish and they are fine. A little bit pink though so i'll give them another coat later
As for indicators i just left them, same goes for reversing light.
I have driven past 3 police cars today and none were bothered

they will pass an mot as long as they show the correct colour to the rear.
Problems start if you get a copper who knows his stuff as the lights also have to reflect red to be e marked and road legal. £30 fine if not, however, i had non emarked clear lights for 3 years and never got a tug because of them!

Trust me, nail varnish will eventually burn and turn pink. Indicators should be orange legally but its your choice if you change them or not. Reversing lights are ok as they are meant to show white anyway.
