as above.
i could do with getting more air under my bonnet to the tb's but i dont want a big ugly vent. do bonnet louvres work well or are they mainly for looks
or if anyone knows of a subtle vent that would suit a gsi and not look ott
any help with this is much appreciated

I've just had reversed cool louvres put in above my intercooler..........
I wanted the subtle approach to a functional bonnet vent, and dispite their size, they are extremely effective in letting cold air in, using the reversed method.
They would be useless the otherway round, pulling air out would reduce the amount of air available to your TB's.
Anyway, my car is back from the bodyshop 2moz after havin the bonnet sprayed back up, will post pics then
They are extemely cost effective and look well smart IMO.

no your opinion that the louvres don't work is wrong. your opinon is formed from information which is wrong. louvres are effective and removing heat from the engine bay

louvres work very nicely,
its plainly obvious that having a few holes in the bonnet as opposed to no holes is going to improve airflow!

born_upsideout do some reading into things before putting stupid comments - u only make yourself look daft
when the car is moving, the lourves work by the air passing over it creating a small vacuum just behind the top of the louvres this then draws the hot air from the engine bay to fill this vacuum, hence sucking more cold air from the front to replace the hot air that has just been extracted
if they didnt work why do most turbo cars have loveres in the bonnet??

yep ur right there ............but the reduction in ambient underbonnet temperatures?? I few degrees if anything. The difference made would be sod all, unelss u owned a racing car and were caning it round on a hot day.

turbo cars gain more power via cooler boost temps, which is achieve by scoops/vents above the I/C. slightly cooler ambient under bonnet temps dont make too much of a difference to power.
