cars just started to misfire.
so got it home had a look at the spark plugs and 2 of them are covered in oil, this meeans the piston rings are fried yes?

yep, surely not that expensive tho. Sump off, crank out, drop pistons down, replace rings, then slap it all back together it sounds so easy

You could do it with the head on if you dropped the crank, but it would be much easier to leave the crank in situ and take the head off. In saying that wont you need a hone as well?
Which 2 plugs are fouled? Isn't it unlikely that 2 would go together? Couldn't it be overfueling or non firing in those cylinders or head gasket failure?

3 and 4, i looked in the haynes book and they look identical to the oil fouling ones

Could well be failed head gasket between cylinder 3 and 4. I'd look into it before I started to buy new engines or taking the bottom end apart.
