went out in car today and went round a roundabout quite quickly, and the oil light came on briefly, so i did it again to make sure i wasnt just seeing things, and it came on again, got the car home and checked the oil and i had bout 5mm on the end of the dip stick, i put new oil in bout september time.

Where has it gone? Theres no smoke, no obvious leak, no smoke on gear change.

I think i used 10W 40 last time.

What engine do you have? The Ecotec 1.4 and 1.6s can 'burn' up to a litre of oil per 1000 miles and still be considered as OK. If you've burned 1-1.5 litres in 5K miles, there's nothing to worry about

Ill go up the local chippy and see if they can spare couple litres of their finest. I hear with a few mods you can use it as fuel!
