I took my BFO off today for the first service, and when i was driving it to the garage with my standard air box it felt alot more responsive. Especially between 1,000rpm and 2,000rpm. The only thing i dont like is that with my centre section cut out and the standard airbox it sounds raspy, but with the BFO is sounds nice. I was wondering what a drilled airbox sounds like?

Drilled Airbox is good......
I have done this..... gives a nice sounds when accelerating in 2nd / 3rd gear (basically raging it )

Feels more responsive also.....

Only problem is now i dont have an undrilled airbox - and people are trying to sell me one for £40

mate i kept by standard air box on, cause your right it's alot more reponsive! I got a cat-back BFO system from pvd....that will do me...
induction kits only work well on bigger engines and even then they can be pants..

p.s, anyone heard of "kilen" springs?

induction kit ha s a benefit at high rpm as the car will freely rev higher without sounding like its struggling.

at low rpm you do get a loss.

I've left the standard air box on for the moment, it feels alot faster with it on. I think i'm going to drill it and get a K&N panel filter, and spray the top or something

yep standard box drilled with decent panel is much better than a induction kit for power, just not as noisy and dont look as good.

With the standard paper filter on my car isn't happy reving over 4000.. infact i don't get the usual kick at 4000.. it just stuggles to go higher.

in my experience with induction kits i've found when i ping it from say 3rd gear to fifth or sumin - like entering a motorway, my car revs much better at higher revs.

but going round town where the airflow ain't as good it isn't as responsive, but then again i don't really boot my car round town.

with a performance panal filter and drilled box ( which i have at the mo) my car pulls nicely in all gears, except when the revs get to about 5.5K and then it feels as it struggles.

no im not sure about that either for mine

depends how you drive i suppose, if you keep the revs high then maybe the inductions better.

i can't standard traffic with an induction kit cause it makes me car heat up like a whore on speed...

but then again a lot of peps will say you get a better gain with a drilled airbox and panel filter...

i dunno either
