I have this person who lives on my housing estate who drives a ford focus ST170 and when ever he sees me driving he allways makes the effore to sit on my ass no matter what speed im going, he thinks his car is superior when he gets the opportunity he overtakes me just to annoy me!
when i get my 2.0 8v cav SRi 130 bhp do you reckon ill be able to kick his ass? or will he still go quicker?
Im not usualy someone who goes round racing people but this dick will do it everyday! so wanna teach him a lesson

you will have to strip your car if you want to whoop the ST. I used to have a Sport 1.6 and my dad had the ST170, and on a few ocassions i would be following behind him, and he would put his foot down but wouldnt be able to lose me up to 100, and my corsa was pretty much standard apart from drilled airbox. I was not overly impressed with the Focus' straight line speed. However, it will be able to corner faster and harder than you ever will, which is one of the main good points for the focus ST, the incredible handling.

i loved my dads ST, i remember going round this average sized roundabout about 10 times, getting faster each time, and it just would not budge as the speed got higher

for thge best part of last year i had a S1 RS turbo and i dont think the bloke had his focus then but i had a race with a ST 170 and an astra GSi, i had the boost wacked up to about 1bar perforamance exhaust and filter and uprated intercooler and i fukin issed both of them which was very satisfting since one of the nobheads was hanging out his window edging me on....
i miss me turbo

this argument comes up time and time again on CS
i think in reality u would be very shocked how much less actual speed is than indicated on the speedo.
Run your car at a RWYB day and iwill gurantee i would even put a wager on it the speed u reach at the end of the run will be different to the one on your speedo.

Top speed of a focus st170 is 133mph or 215km/h according to ford.
speedo innacuracy is inevitable above 90mph and below 20mph
indicated 140mph on the clocks is WELL possible, just not actually doing that

please dont insult my intellegence, ive been on this site as long as you have
VAG's factory figures for my car is 129mph
i havent had my car over 110mph, long straight roads on the Isle of Man are hard to come by.
people on the clubgti site have had indicated 140mph of their 16v's, which taking into account the 10% inaccuracy, isnt a kick of the factory figures

we are comparing std to std suspension
throw the right amount of money at a lada and it will out handle most in its class as Top gear proved

wind your neck in FFS someone proved that top speed of the ST170 was 133 or whatever it was, i wasnt undermining your itelligence i was just stating what has been proven.
You ask people like Andy Hamilton and users like Lucky B who ran big power cars and they reach speeds off their clocks yet when datron trakked they tell a very different story
lucky B's old corsa ran out of track doing 140 IRRC and that felt very very dangerous from what i heard.
So before you get on your high horse dont argue the facts. 140 is a very fast speed for a normal road car end of.
