Lol, good old Aussie crappadore (Commodore). In that pic the three in the line are all commodores. First one is a VR-VS ute around 1996 vintage, the one behind it is a Commodore VL Walkinshaw (Brock special) around 1987 and the one at the back looks like a VK Commodore SS Group A (another Brock special) around 1985. All shit....lol. Heaps of grunt yes....but very unrefined. Commodores are as common as muck here. They use them as taxis. The orange thing is an old XU1 Torana, and the purple beast is an old kingswood.

Stuey,Would i be right about the insurance. ie you only need rego over here to legally be on the road?? I must say i do like some of the ford Falcon XR6T or whatever there called..I was working in a SteakHouse in Manly a month or so ago and my boss had the HSV Clubsport R8.awsome car, could spin the wheels in 5th!!!!

Sort of. You must pay rego and third party insurance to be on the road. Insurance against theft, fire etc optional. MOT's only exist in some states of Australia. Most people pay for the insurance cover anyhow as compared to the UK, its very cheap. I only pay $400 a year for my Astra GSi.

HSV....just another commodore with a big brake kit and stuck on plastic. Yes...they can get up and boogie, and the engine can be tuned for huge outputs. But for the initial $60,000 - $90,000 outlay for one (depending on model) you could buy a lot better (ie you could pick up an import R34 Skyline GTR for near on $80,000). The falcon XR6 Turbo is a good car. But it goes to show how far behind in technology the commodore and falcon has been. The commodore still only uses 2 valves per cylinder and push rod technology. The new falcon to which you have referred is the first falcon to use 4 valve technology!!!!!

Clubsport R8 is one of the nicer HSV's. However, unless he has tuned the thing to the max, wheelspin in 5th is a bit optimistic. They only have 255kW as standard.

You know your stuff..the bosses Clubsport was apparantly producing around 300 kw. I think he had a lot of head work done, chip, induction, exaust etc. but then again he did tell me his old Skyline as standard would push on to 300kph

Hate to say it....but i think your boss needs to smell what he is shovelling. I do however believe that his clubsport could be pushing out 300kW. But wheelspin in 5th is total crap. Trust me....I've driven the total HSV range (I drive cars for a living). Lol @ 300kph in standard Skyline. Please tell me you didn't think at any time this may be true? Unless the guy lives in Darwin, I'd like to know where he tested the 300kph top end.

Wouldnt mind one of these. Rumour has it that FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) is planning on spicing one of these up to the tune of 300kW with the big brake kit, body kit uprated turbo etc etc. Should be a nice 6 cylinder.
