Well, I have a 1.4 16v SRi Corsa and I raced my mates MG ZR tonight (on a private, straight road) and I won!?
I was lead to believe that I would get p*ssed on, but my car out-accelorated the ZR.
Then, we decided to try out top end difference. But, the cars were even at top end, both topping at a poor 112mph, perhaps the ZR had a bit left within the revs (but with me on 17s !?)
Should I be happy with my cars performance tonight?
Thanks in advance guys,
David

Well my mate has one and i raced him in my 1.416v sport and he beat me all the way on acceleration. Handling he won hands down. Top end there wasnt 2 much in it. We were both driving the cars well, changing gear just before the rev limiter. So in conclusion either my sport is seriously under performing or your mate wasnt driving the MG all that well, especially as your are on 17s.

Well, cheers for that one corsa_u_can. makes me more impressed with my performance
My mate who was driving is a very good driver and admitted he was driving well etc. spose his car was standard and mine has Induction kit and cat back zorst system (plus i had my neons on which give me an extra 10bhp ) but that wouldnt make too much difference imo.
oh well, cheers for all the replies

those sri 16v are pretty quick, im still wondering if there is much of a difference between my old on and my current 1.6 16v sport.

the sport is heavier with all the electrics etc..

matt, no doubt about it, its a fair bit quicker in a straight line. I had left quite a few trailing behind when i had it.

ur mate couldnt have been driving the mg proper like lad

i got a zr in january there and i can easily fly past althe local boyracers in their wee Nova sr /sri's and a 1.4 corsa sport.

mg performs better when revved , so if u givive it a shit load of right foot they fly.

When i raced my mate i recon he was about 0.5 of a second quicker than me. Im still on standard steelies . Ive been in it and as someone said earlier it does hit 70 in second much better gear ratios. Thats another reason why he could keep up as i was having to change gear just before 60.
