Considering just smoothing my rear wiper as it's got a little bit of rust round the hole...
How do people generally survive without the wiper? How well do products like Rain-X work?

on the front its good cos you got a constant airflow to keep it working. but i think its shite on the rear cos there is no airflow, or very little, to the rear window
just what i have been told tho and not personal experience

Rain-X helps the water to bead and disperse, but relies on either a wiper blade, wind or gravity.
Since there's no wiper blade and Tim won't be driving in reverse, it's down to gravity and rain drops on glass don't have enough mass to run down the glass themselves.
As for a solution to the problem... how about not removing a rear wiper??
It's like moaning that your exhaust is too loud when you've just gone and fitted a system with no front or centre silencers, or complaining that your engine overheats more now you've extended your bonnet over your front grille.

no I came up with it as soon as I seen your post. I don;t sit on here waiting for people to reply to my posts all day
the corsa we had never had a rear wiper and it was hell. the GT's motor needs to be replaced and it's murder not being able to see out the rear. personally I'd not remove it.
oh and stop moaning about people posting on a forum

I miss my wiper. You should be looking behined as well as in front. I hate driving mine in the rain as the water flicks up the back really badly.

A simple no would have sufficed
And yes... I think I will retain the wiper as I'd miss the view of pissed-off faces on BMW drivers...
