I'm after a newer, quicker car that I can keep pretty much standard.

I have been looking at Pug 106 GTIs, would love one in black. However I have just had a look at Saxo VTS's in black, and these seem to be a lot cheaper in comparison.

Please Discuss

106 is rarer and more desireable due to not having the 'Kev' image the Saxo has.

However under the skin they are almost exactly the same car so the Saxo offers better value for money.

BTW i test drove a 106 GTI a few years back but couldn't comfortably fit in it. Considerably less space than a Corsa.

I had a wee race with one last week and even thought I beat him it was pretty close up to about 80 then I started to pull away easily, the lad says his was about 140bhp and weight 800kg so I was quite pleased but was also very impressed with it only being a 1.3

hes only done zorst system filters and chip and runs at just over 170bhp and sticks to the road so well.

TBH mate it was a young lad (no more than 18) that was driving it and I think he lost his bottle on the corners because they can handle like fuk when driven properly

you'd get a much better saxo for the same money you'd spend on the 106

i.e. for £5k you'd be hard pushed to find an s-t reg 106 gti, whereas for the same money youre lookin at x-y reg vts'

id get the saxo and keep my eyes peeled on ssc for 106 gti leather interior's cuming up fr sale
