thanx for all the info peops, its really appreciated. i looked into the Corsa B sport 1.6 16V 1997, and that was valued at £1k for insurance, i also looked into the Corsa B GSI 16V 1.6 1996 for a similar price of £1k. expensive but hey i thought about it and the points made in this post were true its got no potential and just aint worth the money in modding. this has brought my search down to the 2 cars i just stated. if any one knows whats the difference between the 2 cars, i would be grateful. i looked at the performance page and the corsa sport states 9.5 seconds, where as the corsa gsi states 9.3 however that was based on the 1993 model not the 1996 model that suited me in price. Any help or news or avice would be very appreciated

Corsa GSi 109bhp
Corsa Sport 106bhp - but produces peak power or toque lower down the rev's

in terms of acceleration take the book figures with a pinch of salt.

Cybermonkey (Dave) has done a GPS timed 0-60 in sub-9seconds with just a drilled air-box in a sport!

GSi looks the daddy
but generally will have higher miles than a sport

the gsi has power delivery lower down, as stated in previous posts by greasemonkey.

themain differences are that the GSi has a fully color coded body kit, and the sport looks like all the other corsas. however electric widows and wingmirrors were optional extras in the Gsi so not all will have. as they came standard in the sport.

the c16xe, has better performance modding take than the x16xe due to it being pre-ecotec.

but some GSi's will have the x16xe engine in

so looking at both cars theres not much seperating them however (greg12v) you say that the GSI has the slight upper edgein terms of modds performance, mmm so really which ever i buy wont be noticably different so either way both are nippy cars then........ right?

yeah, the sprt has more inside, the c16xe is only found in the gsi, however the x16xe will be in sport and some gsi's.

beware of getting a 'GSi' or sport conversion. its just not the same

Lots of little differences.

At the end of the day if a standard C16XE came up against a X16XE at the lights it would come down to the driver.

more miles on the engines, more chance of being thrashed about. and the attractive GSi badge to thieves.

just because they have a N-cap rating of 0, doesnt make them a bad car
