Flew on this same aircraft to Antigua in 1995. Its was 20 years old and stunk of kerosene, but i loved every second. Rolls Royce RB211's made a gorgeous sound. Now mostly decomissioned by BWIA and sold to America Trans Air or scrapped.

Branson offered BA £1m for each of their concordes, but BA wouldnt let the sale commence, and by that time the CAA had already removed the license for the aircraft to operate safely. Branson couldnt afford it though, they are immensely expensive to keep in the air.

They ran for so long because they were more of an institution than a profit maker. It was the flagship aircraft for BA, and every other airline apart from Singapore Airlines and Air France was jealous because of it. The crash happened due to part of an American Airlines DC10 Stabiliser had come apart on the runway, shredded the concordes tyres on the left and spat up into the wing and ripped through the wing, rupturing fuel tanks and hydraulics. Didnt have a hope in hell. Any other aircraft would have been fine with it, but it was the fact that concorde takes off at about 250mph and the tyres are very very fragile at that speed. Michelin manufactured concordes tyres at a cost of £8000 each. and there are 4 on each rear bogey!

Dont know if there will be to be honest. Even though concorde was designed and built in the 50's and 60's, it was still very advanced in 2003 when it was decomissioned. It was a masterpiece of engineering, and the chances of a company being able to afford the costs of developing a supersonic aircraft are minimal. Its much more profitable to make a subsonic aircraft that can fly at .85 mach and carry 250 passengers, just like the new 7E7

why were they jealous? i guess the france one wasnt cause the had there own condorde and part made it?

also how wasnt it a profit maker? was that due to its speed? (using more fuel than others) and its capacity , not being able to carry as many as other crafts?

Well Air France flew the Concorde along with British Airways. 14 concordes were made by BAe/Aerospatiale in an anglo-french partnership, 7 concordes went to BA, and 7 went to Air France. Up until 1990 this was the case until Air france decomissioned 2 to be used for spare parts for the other concordes. There was only one concorde design, apart from the Russian equivelant which crashed at the Paris Ar show in the 80's and never saw full scale production. Singpaore airlines were allowed to lease a concorde especially for abot 6 months, and had their insignia painted on the side.

There was also a special Pepsi livery, but this aircraft wasnt allowed to travel as fast as normal because the paint scheme made the aircraft too hot during flight,

It was very very expensive to run, from fuel, parts, airport standing costs, At full reheat (afterburners) it burned enough fuel per hour to allow a small car to travel to the moon and back
