aye....its the problem of today houses/flats are a complete rip off and new house buyers struggle to get anything
best bet would be to wait a little while and keep an eye on house/flat prices and the market and see when its the lowest. They recon in a few months to a year prices will start to fall...because of new house buyers etc etc and thats the time to buy buy buy
also, have a chat with your bank and morgage companies and see what they will offer you with your income, and then go from that

400 smaker-roos a month here get you a so so flat, but nothing special...you need about 500-600pm for some decent and then for that price you can get a so so house and it contiues lol all i know, is that the rent houses near the river are something stupid like 1000pm+...then again there like 600k-800k houses, but its stupid

I think easiest way out for me is to get a council house or something then its what, £200+ a month council tax & just bills, etc.
yeah ok can't get planning permission with ease, but least its a proper house & cheap(ish)

Our mortgage is approx 4 times our combined salaries (£40k+) so that shows how much they are willing to lend - we got £156k reasonably easily mind

even look at council insentive schemes sometimes they offer 50/50 deals with housing associations, you get a 50% mortage and rent the other half, you can purchase the other half at a later date.
Or look at old council properties that they sell at auction.
I cant see house prices coming down for a while as long as there is a demand for new housing (as there is a housing storage) they will remain to expensive for first time buyers.
And renting gets you no were because what do you end up with in the end.
