As title, no V5 but I know the engines a 1990.

Ive tried Vauxhall but they were no use?

Could I just say the engine was from a Cavalier GSi which it was?

all c2oxe's originally ran a cat. however vauxhall were using c20xe's before the official deadline for all cars to have them was introduced in 1992.

ie. my engine is a c20xe, from a '90 calibra. so it could be de-catted as it was made before 92, but it still came with one from the factory.

emmisions must match the year of the car not the engine so most people will need a cat in for the MOT.

no?

i would check your testers manual because it does go on the oldest part, the car or the engine!

if your car hasnt had a head swap the year should be stamped on the inside just under the oil filler cap

also most MOT testers have the common sense if the car doesnt have a lamba sensor it never had a CAT

and its the truth the emissions are tested on the year of the engine not car

it has a lamdba but was per 92 so didnt need a cat, vauxhall started to fit CATs before this deadline.
