If you experience signal problems, its because 3 runs on the UTMS frequency not the usual GSM900/1800 frequency. Most places who offer unlocking services will do it with a service cable and do a full factory reset on the phone. This will show a hidden menu to manually select what frequency runs on.
When unlocking with codes, you have 5 chances to put the correct code in, after 5unsucessful attempts you can only unlock the phone via code. This is the same on any nokia phone you try to unlock via code.
