I use 10W60 Bardahl XTR racing oil, after 80K of trashing all the cylinders retain 98% of their original compression, and my rev limit is 8100 rpm
with original conrod boltsone of this days I will have to upgrade the pistons or the rods

ok im a bit confused now. i always though that fully synth 5/40 was the best to get. being thinner gets to oil more of the parts properly.
so 10/40 semi synth the best for my gsi then? or fully synth 10/40?
sometimes tends to have a little bit of smoke if i pull off when engine and oil are cold. please clarify this issue for me, dont wanna fuck my engine up again just spent loads sorting it and i wanna keep it healthy

i use 10w/40, its what vauxhall recomend, but on an older engine id go for a thicker oil, lik e15w/40.
