Well, if you have a high spec pc, and well into gaming, you can use this to test your system, it tests absolutly everything on your pc and gives you a score you can compare to other spec PCs and also lets you know what part of your pc is slowing your PC down if at all, will also let you know if you have a bottleneck in your pc.

serious though , why do people need to compare stuff, especially their pcs? as long as it does what they want, then who cares like willay said, its just a way the geeks can compare their virtual willies with each other
although i will download it and see what i get....just out of curious though

eerr why?
My reason for using it is i play alot of top spec games on my pc, e.g doom3 farcry etc etc and its nice to know what im gonna upgrade next.
I also use my pc for CAD drawings, and its nice to know what i can do to impove the speed of that.
My virtual willy comes no where near it

That has to be a stupid point on a site were many people spend £1000's on their cars. You could say the same about anything. I have a 1982 fiesta, it does what I want, gets me from A to B etc....

hows that like people modding cars?
modding cars and people modding pc cases fair enough, but to compare points about computers?
at the end of the day, it’s a piece of software putting out a number, which means what? Absolute nothing...it doesn’t tell you how fast it is, or how much ram it has or anything. Its just a number generated that your computer should have, and then people compare with each other
And considering people have difference uses for their pc, the 3dmark is crap. I use my studio pc for music production - it’s suitable for what i want, plenty fast enough, has more than enough ram etc. However, it will be totally inappropriate for someone like bart who does CAD design/graphics etc etc.
When someone can tell me what the number generated actually means, apart from being used to compare "virtual penis sizes", and then ill shut up

I could go on about people comparing BHP gains and trying to get an extra 3 bhp outta the cars. Like they could feel the difference on normal roads but I won't

yes, but bhp is power...what does the 3dmark generated number actually mean? you have failed to state the meaning to the number that the software generates

The number means that person A's PC is in some way better than person B's.
TBH I don't care. It's only another form of willy waving that can be done by people who think they have something better than the rest. I was more pointing to the fact that someone is being riddiculed for something they like. I'm sure many people have the same views about modding cars.? Dunno?

it is an overall mark of the pc. its like saying my car is 100bhp standard, if i add a filter i get 2bhp, zorst i get 4, inlet manifold i get 15bhp, this leaves me with 121bhp overall.
comapre that to a 1000points pc, if u add a newer faster graphic card u get anover 500, then new ram, 300, new processor 2000, faster hard drive 100, this leaves me with an overall power rating of 3900 overall.

those who doubt it are fucking homos. I use 3dmark 2001SE purely for benchmarking my PC when overclocking to see how it performs. It gives an accurate estimation of what the PC is capable of, and will show up any graphical glitches from having too high a clock speed. So GTF you mother fucking cocksuckers

As a general rule, the higher the 3d Mark score, the faster and more powerful the PC. THerefore, this score is just like a bhp figure for a car.
