remember me saying my sub just stopped working, and then it would beat during a tune but as soon as the bass kicks in, the sub wud just "pop" and not intime to the beat. well i took it out and fucked it off, today i put it back in and and messing around, and if i change the gains on the amp or the boost, it will pay for a little bit and the bass will evan play properly, so the sub cant be fucked can it?? and when i move the rca's it plays too, so anyone think it could be bad rca leadS?? or is the sub still fucked??

just had a quick cheack of the rca's seem fine, so really i'm at a loose end, the sub will play but only for a small period of time, the amp aint over heated coz its only just been swtiched back on. anyone any suggestions or ideas whats wrong with this shit?
its like it wants to play but somthing is stopping it.
and when the bass kicks in, the little blue liht on the amp flash's on and off witht the time of the popping noise. and when the sub is just playing the tune (not the bass part) it sounds fine and the little blue light dont flash, just stays on.

sounds like the amp could be damaged or the wiring to the sub with regards to impedence is incorrect.
Could also be grounds ect but id put my money on the amp from what it seems.

its a kenwood one, it worked fine from the start, then one day it went off, just just took it out
yesterday i was bored and put it back in, then messed with the gains and stuff, and when the gains are down the sub works, when they are up, it turns off when the bass kicks in

that could be the wiring with a short in some way... causing the amp to heat up too much and cut out due to temp cut out...
rich knows more about these sort of wiring problems than i.
But i know a lot of people get this with the alpine monos too, sometimes its the wiring and some times the sub is faulty.

mate the ground uve chosen isnt really any good for the power you have. You need to take it back off and sand most of the paint off and keep going until you have bare metal.
And with the 0/1 strands being cut in half, you checked that there arent any strands shorting on other terminals?
Im defo putting my money on the ground now because if it works ok with the gains down, your not making the amp work hard, using much less power.
When you turn the gain up your making the amp work harder, and it looks like its going into its own protection mode, even if its not doing it by the book.

agreed richie, u ned to get a nice earth contact.
And i am worried about your cutting the wires in half, thats leaving a lot of wire exposed that could short on something, just bite the bullet and buy a couple of dizzy blocks, then redo your earth ansd it should be fine.

right so i'm powering one sub, with 400rms, and the max power of the amp is about 800watts i think.
what guage cable should i use? and what fuse??
i'll go and buy fresh cable so its not runing throught the middle of the car, an smaller cable will fit to the amp properly.
help asap would be great as i wanna go buy it now

replace amp mate and go from there, sounds like that is the one at fault - but personally i would rip it all out, buzz everything out to make sure all the cables are working, then put it back in.
If it stills fooks then, replace amp/sub etc After that, try a different head unit - failing that, take it to your local ICE shop and see what they say

mate everything is brnad new, the amp is brand new, sub is, and evan headunit coz the old one set on fire.
all the wiring has been done again from scratch.
cant afford to be replacing the amp, and stuff.
might just throw it all on ebay.

right, well find someone that will allow you to test your equipment in their car and see what happens
Like i said, it might be worth going to your local ICE dealers and see what they say They can usually test the equipment with bench power supplies (ie: outside of the car) so you can see if its something up with car not suppling enough power etc etc
you will probably find its something stupid and little
although i would also try and borrow someone else amp/sub and see if its one of them up the creak
