got a k reg corsa now, its a 1.2 8v with 132000 miles, engine management light comes on now and then and the whole car vibrates loads when idling, id like to change the engine to a 1.2 16v, how much does a engine change roughly cost? should i go to vauxhall and let them do it or a cheap garage somewhere? whats best?

Engine and parts about £200-£300 MAX
Odd Bits and Bobs £100
Labour £300-£400
So about £1000 tops
Got to think your could have a 1.4 16v or a 1.6 16v for around the same money or a 2lt 16v for £500 more
but supose is about money and insurace
Dont let Vauxhall do it unless u have alot of Cash
eather let a Local Garage do it or somone who has done a Vauxhall engine swop before, maybe somone who has done a 2lt 16v Corsa

ok thats good advice, but im only 18, so i dont want a 1.6 even tho id like one, so would it be easier to get another 1.2 8v in or a 1.4 16v, my only problem would be insurance?

1.2 16v is difficuilt ul have to change the whole loom on the car as it has a different loom to the rest and is a complete shit bag to do need full dash out etc etc this is because the ecu is under bonett as opposed to in drivers foot well id just buy a car with a 1.2 in it or fit somthing worth fitting

Just put in a 1.6 16v if your considering upping the capacity...
All Vauxhall engines that you will find readily available will be injection, unless you try and get something out of an old Nova....

Get insurance quotes for 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v. Try admiral and adrian flux, i promise they will be cheaper than you think!! It just seems crazy to go through with a conversion and not get any extra ponies out of it.

easy enough, but you won't get much power gain out of a 1.4 Spi, the MPi is a better jump, then you need a MPi fuel pump too. 8v is much simpler becuase there's no immobilser issues.
