Hi to all...
I wont only to say how much i can increase the cr on a x16xe without having detonation with 95 ron fuel, or better, how skinning is necessary to have a good cr?
The standard is 10.5...
Very Thanks!!!

cr ?? compression ratio???
dont u have too lower the space inside like taking the head as low as it cango b4 hitting the valves.
tbh i dont think u would get any perforamce outa it

Sorry...
CR = Compression Ratio.
I say that most high is compression ratio, better is the thermal rendiment of an engine...
Isn't?

think he want to know how much skimming he can get away to
higher the compression Ratio on a X16XE before the valves say hello to the pistons.....
lad dont bother with that yet.....
What inlet manifold and what engine managment are you using ?

Sorry...
I forgot a 'little thing'...
Increase the compression ratio!!!
I'm intention also to deeper the pocket on the piston by 1.5 - 2 mm for accomodate a better cam.
Inlet manifold (for little time) i'm intententioned to leave the original one, because i have no many money to spend on this engine... And the ecu is standard (i think to chage it with the 4 tb setup, in future...)
Thanks!

Forgot another little thing...
I think to reprogram the ecu on a dyno, after the engine is completly re-built...

the best power gains for least money over here have been the changing of the inlet manifold. It has not been unkown to get 140BHP by changing the inlet manifold and re-mapping the ecu.

sounds like a good plan masterx. The C16XE engine had a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1 rather than the X16's 10.5:1, so in theory you could get away with that.

10.5 is a good limit to work with, any higher and you are likely to get detonation, esp in a warmer climate like italy.
However the dynamic CR will be reduced by running cams with a higher amount of overlap, so you may need to skim the head a little, but how much I don't know as I have no idea what cams you will be using. I'm guessing 285's though with 2mm pockets in there, but there's not much you can do about it as valve clearance becomes a issue.
But it won't really gain you any increase in power, just issues.
Just spend the on vernier pulleys so the cams can be timed in correctly
So basically don't worry about it.

To be able to run vernier pulleys you need aftermarket managment as the X16XE + C16XE use a sensor on the standard cams which you need, aftermarket managment will mean ya dont need this and you can also ditch the AFM on the C16XE, should gain ya a few horses with just well mapped managment
Standard managment cannot be mapped without say a Unichip, but summit like DTA engine managment is far superior,

You can run an inlet verniner though
And just tweek the std exhaust cam to suit, not idea but can be pretty effective if you're doing it on the cheap.
However mappable management all in would be in the £900-100 mapped region, which for a few extra horses is not too much bang per buck!

Ok, i've understended... so skimming a little with cam...
So, for the cams, someone can also help me on the choose, without opening a new thread
I wont a car that can be usable also for do 15000km at year, with long distance travel (300/400 km), and that not is an horror to use in the traffic (only a little )
I'm intended to leave standard cam & followers, and not pass the 8000rpm line...
Con someone help me on the choose?
Thanks for the patience

If the cars mapped correctly then no cams make the car undriveable it's the clutch!!
285's are sensible, but std management can't handle them due to the longer pulse in the inlet, cause's bad town driving, milder 264 cams would be a more suitable choice if your retaining the std engine management in the car. It's also worth sayign (as I don't know if you have it already) that a manztel powerbox typre set up would give far greater gains that cams on the engine, and keep it driveable.
there's no need for an 8k limit as you'll make peak power much further down th epower band, 7500 would be much more sensible as the std pistons tend to fall apart at 8k.
And a tubular manifold aswell, makes a workd of difference to the engine.

like this matey. interesting on the verniers for the engine, what gains would i get with a vernier on the inlet and tweeking the exhaust cam? i got kent fast road cams and a reasonable spec engine with lexmaul inlet and head work etc

Little idea...
Instead skimming the head, i cam mount a thinner head gasket?
Who made this item?
Thanks!

There is no need to increase the Compression ratio

Ok
So for mounting a vernier pulley i need to use another ecu? Sigh...
