had an HKS dump valve on my Celica GT4 - before some twocer knicked it... was a beast too

i was running bout 21psi of boost and the dump was Feckin ACE! you could hear it very clearly - only problem was it mad the underside of the bonnet boggin'

Would Defo recommend HKS parts - expensive but superb quality

Take it your getting the 2.0 turbo engine then... You can get any dump valve you like so long as they do a fitting kit for it - you will need a fitting kit for a C20LET. Though if you tell them that the engine is out of, for example, a G reg Cavalier turbo then you will be sent the right parts...

The Cav and Calibra Turbo engines are the same.

From what I understand the Bailey piston DV is best, its whats on mine and works fine.

I'd worry about much more before chosing which DV you want.

getting the engine in the car for starters!
Takes a fair bit of work and / or money for a C20LET into a corsa, then theres service bits and then problems which theres quite often is, then u release whther the engine has had a hard life or not whne the whole thing goes tits up and then u really have to dig into the wallet, but gud luck to ya!

Or you could do the thing properly, rebuild the LET and instead of shelling out for brand named parts, get better and stronger parts for half the price? just a thought

if an let engine is half dodgy when you first get it, when it goes it can be really costly. i melted 2 pistons and had nice holes in the bores. has cost (and still is costing) a fair few quid to fix and re-build.

theyre quite a softish motor unless looked after properly. xe's take far more pain. ive never even blown a head gasket on a 20xe. done 3 on the turbo

The second paragraph in your post, suggests the first word in your username is spot on.

hey, well why build something a drive like a granny????

they invented the accelerator pedal for me and the brake for elderly people.

seriously though, tis just a name. i got unlucky and bought a half dead c20let not knowing it was till i spent a good half day fitting it

No you've missunderstood me I think, you seem to have replied to my comment thinking I'm abusing your driving nature, I'm merely saying what you said about the engine block is utter bullshit!

Well it's basic logic to be honest, you have an engine that cost millions to design, and got rejected by the big daddies 7times before it got the go ahead to be produced. They're not going to make it 'weak' are they? Made out of the same components and parts the XE has, just some minor differences, like piston size, and accomodation for the turbocharger etc..... if anything they are stronger than an XE due to extra heat temps the turbo will incure on the block and manifolds, I understand what you mean though, you've obviously bought an engine that some gimp has owned previous, and your just suffering the backlash of their abuse towards it. Which if you rebuild it, it's brand new and anything which happens to the block is entirely in your control.

the engine i bought was once re-built by regal. have over 4k's of recipts with it when i bought it. ive re-built it once already back as std and it went again due to a dodgy fuel pump and a dodgy injector (had them cleaned aswell before running) this time ive spent on proper things. steel rods, forged low comp pistons, these oil spray bar things, water injection, proper injectors etc etc.

hopefully this time it will last a bit longer........maybe.

all im comparing it to is me old valver nova me and me mates built about 5 years ago. it ran for 3 years, every day, no problems at all. engine had done 150k + when it went in and over 200k when i took it out to scrap the shell for rusty bits.
