i wish
when its cold - doesnt idle, just conks out at every given opportunity, be that gear change, slowing down, you name it it does it
when its hot-- wahey lets rev like a tit. the average is between 1-3k, and yes whilst driving also, fighting the car to slow it down cos its revving like a twat is slightly annoying after changing every bloody sensor i can think of

Jap engines when maintained properly and driven correctly will not need alot of those so say expensive parts
They are the one of the best countries in the world to produce engines

Oh, its just my old Pulsar used to idle very high....i did loads of digging and spoke to numerous engineers but no one could ever figure it out....doesn't help with your cutting out though....

My corsa use to do this, it also use to rev really high sometimes when changing gears. I never knew exactly what the problem was but eventually I had to change my ignition coil and that seems to solve the problem.

Its the curse of the GSI's in repairs my GSI had
Rear Wheel bearings x about 6
rear axle brand new
rear drums
discs
calipers
headlight
rear quarter
bonnet
bumper
skirts
jacking covers x about 10
clutch
engine x 2
handbrake cable
alarm, vauxhall one fucked up
front driver and pasenger seat
Chassis welded
front control arms x 2
suspension
bushes all round
centre section
about 5 engine sensors
enough to make ya cry aright, i found GSI to have very high running costs lol

It's not really the fact that it's a GSi that you're having all these problems, at the end of the day anything mechanical will not last forever, and regardless of cost you will eventually have to replace things to keep it going - there isn't any car you can buy today (brand new or second hand) that'll just last forever with no maintenance!

i've replaced the engine, but that was half the reason why i bought it.
drivers window drops a bit,
mirrors un-adjust themselves,
b-pillars need doing,
skirts have come off,
and rear bearing is on it's way out.
nothing major though, so i'm fairly happy.
especially as it cost £950 with years ticket and 6months tax.
