40mm is plenty big enough, as said its what I used. If I were to do it again I would use them again. You'll lose torque if they are too big.

The torque curve is meant to be different between parallels and tapers, have a look at the given graphs on the sbd site, or do a search on mig as I remember someone imposing them on each other.

I think it was basically along the lines that you might get slightly more power from the tapers if they are set up properly, although they are harder to set up properly and cost more.

What do you get for £866? The bodies on there own cost about £450?

cheers miles, for the 886 you get:

Developed in partnership with SBD Motorsport Ltd. A kit is available which contains the manifold, a set of four 48mm tapered throttle bodies, four air horns, fuel rail, plus all bolts, clips, O-rings and washers required.

I also ran 40mm parallels on a 1.4 16v corsa. you need the nagled inlet manifold. and 40mm trumpets. the 40's are more than enough, you loose torue, but more importantly throttle response is blunter.
the difference between tapers and parallel is you get more midrange torque (suposedly) but the top end is the same. they do take longer to set up, and cost more.

heres a pic of the inlet I use on mine.

I think the tapers are 48mm at the mouth, 42mm at the inlet manifold....

IT does slightly depend on what power you'll run, but rule of thumb is 40mm are good for 190-200BHP. Tapers are 45mm butterfly, 48 at opening and 42mm at manifold. SBD will tell you to get the tapers. But they really don't make anymore power than the parallels. they para's are cheaper and still fit.
The most important thing is that you should use the smallest size you can get away with, it's not like carbs where's there's the choke aswell.
Plus with para's you have better esale value as they fit any DCOE type manifold so it open to a wider interest.

so 40mm parallels are the ideal one for my car, aiming for 190-200bhp in the end.

from 300-500ish for a mapping session, and the management is about 500-600ish? can get a cheap one that you make your self but id rather have one that works. they are set up on a rolling road and the car is mapped that way
