Is there any point in getting one of these on a lightly modded XE? (exhaust, induction and 4-1 maniifold) What are the benefits apart from its physically less weight to lug around, and could it make the car drive poorly around town etc?

Get one, motorbike revviness (well not quite) There's a limit to how much you can lighten a std cast one though.
Doesn't make piss all diffeent to "town" driving, only race clutches make lift difficult.

engine will have to rev harder to get up hills, since the flywheel loses some of its inertia properties when lightened.

Easy solution - don't go up hills

The gains a fly wheel gives you is a percentage equivalant weight loss, its a calculation based on car weight as standard etc, to put it bluntly 2KG's off a fly wheel on a adverage car will be like a 120kg weight loss in 1st 80kg weight loss in 2nd 35kg's in 3rd then its hardly noticed after this, the lighter fly wheel will be effected by clutch dragg allot more, the clutch will have a fine bite point, so will take gettin used too, only super light flys effect the idle, oh and a quickshift would be a good idea otherwise on gear change the revs will drop so quick you wil be out ya power band once the power is applied again

XE's spin up rather easy so unless you have an LSD your going to be spinning up more from standing starts.

It was done when the engine was rebuilt, so was included in the labour. Not sure if it was machined evenly so the flywheel was balanced or anything - whether it makes a difference or not I dunno..

Have one on the Evo, didn't noticed any performance increase to be honest. Was fitted when I had my paddle clutch done.

Would have to be machined evenly or your engine would shake itself to bits
