Anyone know anything about alarms?
Swapped dash boards in Mike16v's car finally in the early hours this morning, went to start the car for him to go home and it wouldnt run (all plugs have gone back in those couple which were unplugged), it will start up but as soon as the auto door locks kick in it kills the engine.
Needs to be sorted as in top100 at weekend
Cheers

ahh uve unplugged the transponder or his missing the chip oot of his keys. Its inside the steering coloum around the ignition barrel, if thats not plugged in, thats whats causing it

its a small grey plug going into a black unit which is over the ignition barrel. It sends the code from the key to the ECU, so if it matches it allows the car to keep sparking. If it dont match, it may start for a second or two then shut down and the ECU light will flash on off

Just spoke to mike about it and he thinks its "a little black box with circuits in it that flew off thats causing the problem". So he said he might need the alarm resettin at source. But as he said gettin there is gonna be a problem!

Turn off the ignition. Make sure the transponder is seated properly around the barrel. Unplug it and plug it in again, making sure its the correct way round and that both clips engage. Check for loose pins/wires on the plug.

cheers mate al go over it again when i get home see if it is any of those. Mike thinks it might be the alarm acting how it should, if we unplugged something it might have thought its getting nicked so has one of those fuel cut offs if its stolen not letting it keep on running ince it fires up?
