I would have a seperate CD-RW drive with ultra speed read, DVD-RW's have large read m/s times, spin up/down etc etc, other than that, sounds like a monster. Might wanna go for 2 g's of ram.

I would get a 1 gb ram rather than 2 512's I'd also get a AMD 64 rather than intel

agree with vibrio, Athlon 64's are faster than the prescotts. Also, think about the Nvidia Geforce 6800Ultra, its a faster video card for the system, also what PSU are you getting?

im happy withthe 1gb in mine so far...
2gb is still a bit overkill unless your using serious memory crunching apps such as photoshop...

It would do yes.. since Half Life 2 is made so it runs ok on lesser computers too.. so it'll run very nicely on above spec.

yes but your maxtor aint 10,000 rpm i will keep one of my ide's which is 120gb just for data music n stuff

no, but it has 176gig more and is still 7,200 rpm.. also have 16mb cache and 1.5gb/s transfer, so am sure i'll get over not having 10,000 rpm

if you got broadband too then might think about getting another HDD too, although i guess you could do that when you run out of space! Looks likes its gonna be a beast tho
