is the Let engine not the newer less powerfull 130+ Bhp engine with a turbo fitted? where as fitting a turbo to the XE would then be faster as they are 150 Bhp?

no a c20let engine is the 150 bhp one with a turbo bolted on bringing it to 204BHP..... i would also think the Let has forged bits and pieces inside....
if yer gonna turbo a c20xe get yer wallet out big time!

the c20xe with a turbo is a bit quicker due to higher compression but the let is much more tune able for to get you corsa to go silly speeds (yeh baby yeh)

in fact is there many things short of 911 turbos and SL500`s that will beat the WRX`s? this would mean there is very little we can do with our little cars without spending the Price of the WRX retail value to make them beat these cars?

better tyres, diff, move weight over front wheels
but you are never going to beat an impreza off the line in a c20let'd corsa

you can't just bolt a turbo on And the higher comrpessin would mean less power for a turbo engine.
I wouldn't say the lets it more tunable than a XE, yes you can get more power out of it, but I put money on a 200BHP TB's corsa being quicker than a 280BHP LET corsa on track.

Higher compression still means more power at the same boost, however you wont be able to get as much boost with the higher compression engine before det (meltdown!)
If you want the ultimate spec XE/LET turbo then it will cost the same to start with an XE or LET and will both give the same power.
WRX's aren't that quick tbh, my old Nova ate a WRX import (claimed 250bhp) from about 50 to 110mph.
I'm sure a Corsa XE or LET would annoy one during most driving conditions.

dont bother wit the scoobs the engines are poo. my mate has had to rebuild 3or4 std ones in the past 6 months (number 3 cylinder running lean on all of them)(ohoh meltdown).
the evo is the way foreward, i went in a 410bhp rally art one and it was stupidly awesome.
my old 21 turbo would keep with wrx's, i would have never seen what way an evo went.

Sounds like dodgy rebuilds or an overlooked fueling issue to melt 4 times in 6 months!
Throttle bodied C16XE with around 180bhp.
Escort Cossies are 227bhp, and about the same sort of performance as most Scoobys, Cav/Calibra turbos.

corsa let would eat a ctr for breakfast, and also the focus RS ( have dine it my self)
as said above, turbo'd xe would suffer severe reliability problems due to the high compression ratio.. as for top end, erm C20LET, due to the fact it has a 6 speed box bolted to the side of it and not a 5 speed
