After doin the virus scans i got more pop ups and its doin my head in and crashin comp

Use Firefox instead of IE. Everytime I open IE I get about 10 sites popping up at once and the comp freezes for a bit.I've got the Google tool bar, run adaware and various others but can't get rid of it.
Downloaded Firefox instead and use that for all browsing now and it's been faultless so far.
Only problem is if I get an e-mail on my MSN and open it from the little window that pops up, it automatically uses IE and it all kicks off again

Think 1.0 is the current one, thats what I'm on anyway.
As for the toolbar thing, can you not just right-click and untick it?

right...
goto add/remove programs and remove any shit in there u dont recognise, smiley central and all the other crap will be in there too. Also things like Gator / Precision Time / weather cast - anything tht looks bollocks get rid
once you've got rid of most of that stuff, restart the computer and hold down F8 whilst it's booting, this should give you a boot menu, use the cursor keys and move it down to 'safe mode' and press enter - allow the comp to load up and press ok when asked (dont worry if the desktop dont look pretty its running everything minimum) do a full virus scan using norton 2004 (as long as you definitions are up to date) and also do a full adaware scan....... once both of these are done, reboot the computer and see how its running.... if there's still loadsa crap u need to manuall disable stuff on startup which u don't need to load....... to do this:
got Start>Run & type in msconfig will bring up a screen saying system configuration utility - Clcik the tab that says "startup" scroll through there and you see some fairly obvious programs running which shouldn't be, just go through each one and take a look at it, if you don't like the sound of it then uncheck each box for tht particualr program. once your happy close it and the utility will ask you if you want to restart, click yes..... if certain programs are not running, or you think you have messed up go back into msconfig and retick certain programs until everything is running fine
sorry about the essay, but its the only way to sort it really
any problems u2u me

lol if your worried about screwing it up goto Start>Programs>Accesories>System Tools and then System restore - set a restore point for now, so if you do mess up, just use them steps above go into safe mode and u'll be able to return it to its current fuked up state seriously though what i've said especially msconfig, if u go through it carefully, and dont untick anything u'll obviously need, i'll guarantee ur comp will be running better
