i was looking at the post about people and there Cam belts, and worrying about them.
well how many people infact look after the Shell of the car.
as engines you can fix/throw away etc and everyone worrys about them but never really hear them about there shell
i would rather have a engine which is not well and a mint shell reather then a good serviced engine and a Rotten shell.....
so do people look after there Shell......?
- i wash and polish the car ever 2 days
- the car is kept in a garage covered up with pots of Salt underneath to keep the damp in the air away from the car
- remove front bumper and wash inside of the that once a week (i know its fiberglass and will not rust by just saying)
- wash under the car once a week and underseal it ever 6 months
- get under the car and give it a once over for rust once a month
just came into my mind as it was time for underseal the car again and been under it all day, found abit of rust where the bottom arms join the shell on the weld (where i have seam welded the bay only surface rust), drill/wire brushed it all away, treated it and then painted, then undersealed over it.....

mate, u must be paranoid about clean cars but give yourself credit for doing it, especially looking at that car.
I wash mine (try to) atleast once a week, t-cut then wax it every 2-3 weeks, stone chips, little scratches touch up aroud evry 2 weeks all depending on weather

i dont think many people would have the time to do that so often, but i think that is an excellent guide for people who are bored and have nothing to do (no offense intended). ill be doin that in the next couple of months...but i have no garage

i hate having a Dirty car, and nothing more stresses me then rust.
just you see all these people throwing silly amounts of money on there cars but not really looking after the Undershell of the car.
washing the cars ok but thats the outer skin
I know people dont like the car, but its a good example, just think about the amount of cash thrown at this easy 10k-15k (just on mods not even the value of the car) then to look under it to find its a rusty as it comes and is rotton, wouldent it just piss you off so so much, why people spend all that cash on the outside not to look after the inside.....?
Another good example was SUPOSE to be Toms 106 if anyone remembers it, first 106 on 19's had wide archs was done by Dave C4RSA old place DEX was supose to be Rotton as fuk underneath

i supose a garage helps
But as for time, 1 hour a day to look after your car which people throw silly amounts of money at, then maybe 2 hour at weekends to get under the car.
think of the money saved when you go for a MOT and the shells rotton and need loads of welding, abit of time here and there would save all that.
i admint i have a thing for clean cars, and hate mine being dirty, try not to even take it out in the wet.

usually look after it well...but nothing as much as that Beardy...just don't have time with work/wife/kid etc..
wash 1-2 per week
polish twice a month
check oil water etc all the time...
regulary serviced..
try to wash underneath every few weeks.
Anything needing done gets done....
let it slide the past 5 weeks due to hand injury...will be getting back into it this weekend

The funny thing is people check there oil and water all the time when there warning light and stuff for them, but never check under the car for rust/rot when there no warning at all for it....
i do have alot of time on my hands
with only working 3 half days a week
BUT even when i have been busy and had work on etc i have still been out to the car.

washed my car 3weeks before christmas for the first time since i've owned it.
far more important/more enjoyable things to be doing than spending half my life cleaning cars.
