Although ET49 is the factory fitment its not necessary to stick completely to it.
ET45 is OK, wheels will sit 4mm (ie. 49 minus 45) further out in the arch but also of course 4mm further away from the suspension components which if you're going wider than standard wheels may be a good thing.
Its measure in mm and is this distance as labelled.

if Et 49 is recommended by factory no wonder ET 35's stuck out like a sore thumb on my Corsa
As for the Engine comment do us all a favour as we all want to see this done..
Go out and buy the following parts..
5.7 V8 GenIII LS1 engine from either the Holden Monaro, Holden Commodore, any HSV vehicle (if you even know who HSV are) or it's easily found in the 98-04 model Corvettes
then you need the C20XE Mtech conversion kit, a metro wiring loom, and Astra GTE Digital dash,
you will also need 1.2 shafts, 1.0 gearbox, and a single point injection Full pump!
you should get 333BHP as standard from the 5.7 litre V8, but if you add those parts i have included you should be puttin out around 500bhp, for the extra gains that see the Gen III engine pushed out to 1000bhp follow the guideline ine a previous post made by yourself!
Hope this is of some use to you mate! shouldn't cost too much no doubt you have a mate that will be able to steal the stuff

LMAO. he he he, h18_oab, your mad mate.
mothsgunav2, what you want is ET30, but on a ford fitment, then the wheels will be perfect for that ford engine conversion.
