Left a wee bit early for work tonight thought I would go for a drive....

Gave the car a wee bit of stick......

Been raining and roads were greasy..came off roundabout on a bend and a wee bit much throttle and was heading for the central reservation...
Plenty of understeer was fun though...backed off and all was good..

Never came across anybody to test it against except some arse in new golf who tried it for 2 secs then gave up

ACE fun though...................

Didnt even bother takin my 2 litre out in the wet! Add a heavy engine into the equation of a poor handling lofty hatch and your asking for trouble, especially in the wet! I always thought the scariest thing was trying to slow the thing down in anything but a straight line!

In the dry it was great tho!

I know there are a few issues fitting it in with the ABS unit but I reckon it would be a better car with ABS!

ABS sucks eggs.... in my opinion...

decent brakes/tyres and a clue go a long way to stopping in time

Fair enough, I do agree with that but its the way the corsa shifts its weight when stopping in anything but a straight line that always worried me. Fair enough you shoulnt be braking on a bend but in some instances on the road you HAVE to (usually due to other road users) This is when it catches you out!

Plus ABS has come on a long way. In the old days a good driver with good brakes and tyres could stop quicker than with ABS. I think you would have to change that statement to start "An awesome driver" these days!

Dont get me started on driving in the wet PMSL

But saying that i dont find my understeers muc hat all? Its very easy to come off the throttle and re-point it if it gets too bad.

I had air con in my 1.4 before and that weighed a ton i guess as mine really doesnt feel any differnt to drive

TBH ive not really beleived this 2.0 corsas dont handle rubbish, not saying its the best handling car ive driven, but i think mine handles quite well. I rarely find a corner i cant take fast!

They handle well when theres weight in the back, as ak says, when i jump on the brakes in mine its hard to keep straight.
TBH i havent really pushed the car anywhere near my limits yet, as theres not many wide roads with grass verges near me, there all tight with trees and hedges so scared of coming a cropper.

But i would say with a good suspension setup and perhaps an ARB on the back things may tighten up,
my brother had an xe nova that had avo coilovers and ARB on the back, and that handled surprisingly well, was totally stripped out as well
