how can a policy increase when theres no change to the policy except that Im now over 21 and Ive got 4 years ncd - as opposed to the 3 I had last year
Am I being penalised for getting an extra years no claims or turning 21

Im with HIC and Ive got a limited mileage "agreed valuation" Fully comp policy - nothings changed from last year
to top it off they wont protect theno claims disount either - until u have 5 years - most place protect after 4
Its only gone up by £5 but its just the audacity of it all - I dont see why I should be penalised
Adrian Flux have come back with a slightly higher quote than HIC but they will protect the ncd - which is worth the extra tbh - I might try and push HIC to protect at the price theyve quoted then I'll think about staying with them
Would help if PHIL hadnt left

I have a mate who works in car insurance, he has told me some very interesting things.
Certain companies (to name one, zurich) have a policy that the renewal must be 10% higher than the cost of last year, even with an extra years NCB and the driver being 1 year older. Its a joke

Get a new quote with them instead of a renewal quote. Most companies try harder to attract new customers than they do keeping old ones.

we had this over here for a few years on the trot and the insurance federation was saying that " insurance companys weren't making any money"....
the goverment steped in and made them publish there figures. and between them and theres only about 10 insurance companys over here.. they made €560 in the first 10 months of 2003.
my premium halfed last year....

the missus is with Zurich and hers has just gone from £1400 per year to about £850 this month when she renewed.
She has just got 1 years no claims

My misses who's with diamond has had her insurance go up an extra £200 this week. shes made no claims ever, no accidants and shes got an extra years ncb. fooking day light robbery.
I told her to fcuk them on and change to someone else, but i dont think she has.

Mate Im with HIC too and when it came to renewal it went up £15 even though nothing had changed apart from me getting an extra years no claims! Rang around elsewhere and got a quote that only beat them by £30. Then rang HIC back up told them I could beat their quote elsewhere , gave them the price and who it was with and they rang back next day with a quote that was nearly £150 less than their original quote!!!! Play them off against each other, it pays off in my experience!

Im not sure how much they check it as I did get a genuine quote that beat theres so if they had checked it then it wouldnt of been a problem for me as it was genuine. My better quote came from Performance Direct although I accidently on purpose forgot to tell HIC that Performance Direct do let you modify your car but they will only repair your car to standard in the event of an accident!

yeah I had that with LIV.Vic last year - so might give the two of them a try ithis mornign - then phone HIC and get them to do something about it - tbh tho - Adrian Flux's although more expensive is actually a better price as it includes the protected NCD
its ghey how after 4 years they still wont protect it - that means another year of worryed driving

Adrian Flux quoted me £1100, HIC did it for £530 wasnt gonna pay £500+ for protected no claims

theyre only £30 more expensive than HIC - so makes it worthwhile for me
I payed £465 last year and they want £469 this year - i know its not a great difference but its the principle of it - gonna try Liv.Vic and Performance Direct in a bit
