gutted, my mate wants to go in the forces, they say its easier to get in if you do volenary (sp) police work first aparently

Its not the lowest possible, there are loads of things which you're graded on, its just the lowest possible in that area.

Gives you something to work on though, all is not lost.

a lot of people get knocked back the first time. Gives them an idea of how serious you are about doing it

All im going to do is wait six months, see what forces are recruiting, and then reapply. its what i want to do, so if it takes a few years im going to keep applying.

They did put a letter in about the special constable (the voluntary one), a bit of a kick in the balls though - you didnt get in this time, but why not do it for free!!!

Do it for free proves commitment and would develop your skills.

There are not many jobs in which you can do voluntary work which prepares you so well for the real career.

Did you get a better definition of the cateory in which you scored badly? Those are the areas which you must improve otherwise you will be graded identically next time around.

Respect for diversity, and planning and organising. Before i reapply im going to speak to someone whose on probation to try and get a better idea of what to expect in the interview etc, if i get through.

Might look at applying to the scottish forces though.

Diversity is an equal opps question? Thats textbook stuff - read this http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22equality+of+opportunity%22

Planning and organising is probably that you don't have evidence of doing anything like that?

I don't know quite what evidence you could get for that, either there is opportunity in your current job or I'd say use experience in the specials but I don't know what you would be allowed to get involved with at that level?

3 1/2 years, getting a bit tired of it to be honest, it's all politics and the big cheese's from above trying to shite on you from a great hight, pays the bills though and some days you do enjoy it!
