Just fitted a used pair of morettes and there lovely! dont know what they will be like in the dark?
The lights didnt come with indicators so found some old orange side repeaters in the garage but then realised they were just the lenses and didnt hjave and bulbs, holders or any wiring.
So what do i do? All shops are shut now.

just go to a vaux garage or scrappy, and get the holders wire them up behind mesh if u have any, or simply get the golf mk1 indicators. just installed mines last nite and i wired up the bulb holders behind the mesh.
But untill then ur stuck if u cant get any

i tryed to wire side indictors up but they just flashed like hell, so i went up the back of the forest and looked at a few dumped cars, and got the big indicator bulb holder and wired it up and doesnt flash rapid

Oh yeah thats a good point actually mate the side repeaters dont have enougbht resistance to stop the fast flashing so im going to have to get some propper indicators.

u can wire up side indicators but i cant remember what it was u needed to stop them flashing so quick, plus they aint as big side indicators, i'm looking through old threads atm its in here soem where.

You would either need a resistor or wire in a bulb somewhere and cover it up.

Or change the relay (safer).
What about sinking an orange sidelight bulb in to the main beam unit?

dats the one, risistor... i think
it u did this, u would be able to mount the side repeter cover some where on ur bumper and the side repeter holder just locks into that

Yeah could just use the indicator from the old lights and mount into morettes the same way it is in the std ones.
I wonder what resistor you would need to make the correct wattage?

Just measure the resistance of a light bulb.
Original indicator bulb is huge, sidelight ones are far smaller and would be easier to mount.

Accoding to Ohms law, 12v at 22 watts is 6.5ohms.
ohms = volts^2 / watts
= 12 x 12 / 22
= 144 / 22
~= 6.5
Assuming its a 22 watt bulb of course, might be less.

But resisitors are meansured in k's e.g. 10k resistor so i wouldnt know what that would be in ohms...
And i did a electrical engineering course last year lol.

k ohm is just 1000 ohm.

ian why the 12x12? ohms law would be r=v/i
r=resistance
v=volts
i=current

oh and i fitted side repeator bulbs into the main beam lamp side of the morrette, only problem being that in the day it is not very bright at all and most people cant see you indicating. at night though its as sweet as.

Nice mate i think i will just use a resistor, so would anyone be able to work out what k resistor i will need?

Wainey - current is in amps when its in VIR form and I didn't know how many amps the bulb draws.

Si - 6.5ohm or 0.0065 k ohm.
Blue, red, gold is 6.2
Blue, grey, gold is 6.8
6.2 will flash slightly faster.
