few days ago i cleaned my ICV, fitted new hydraulic lifters, QED Q42H spec cams (256 deg?) and vernier pulleys and put a set of standard cream injectors in that have been cleaned. The car started first time on sat afternoon but was running really rough below 2k rpm but above that it was fine. I put this down to having the cams on a standard ECU.

This morning i came to fire it up and it wouldnt, it turns over fine, sparks and fuel getting through. Ive had these cams in a previus engine also on a standard ecu and never had any problems like this. Ive changed the injectors back to the old ones and re-done the cambelt timing. Have a spare ICV here that i will try tomorrow.

im thinking my timing is still pissed or the ICV is now fucked? anything else could be?

help

number 1 piston is at TDC and the cams line up with the marks on the rocker cover. could it still be wrong? i know the bottom pulley turns twice ever time the cams turn once but i can never get my head round how they would be 180 deg out

Dont try and get your head round it, it'll get caught in the pulleys

180 out would be cam marks at top, bottom pulley lined up, but all pistons level at half mast.
if no.1 is tdc then you're ok.

You'd better check a manual mate, just to be sure to be sure.

nope, first i thought it was lack of fuel as id been driving a few days with the petrol light on(i couldnt be arsed to stop ad put petrol in, hassle) so put a can of juice in and still did it, opened bonnet and noticed the hose on fuel reg was bent right over, so un-crushed it and fired it up, started to splutter, so gave it a boot-full and it revd up at ticked over fine for bout 5mins til i turned it off. Not driven it since anyway.

ffs

put old cams and pulleys back in, old injectors back in, checked timing. still wont fucking start.

Now it trying, sounds like just one cylinder is firing but wont fully start. Leads me back to the ICV... its the only thing left.

as far as im aware all the earth straps are present, got 2 going to the throttle cable bracket and one from alternator to inlet
