im not talking about that im talking about criteria for mortgage companies
most of them prefer new builds to have NHCB certificate thats all

NHCB is not worth the paper its printed on, it may be a criteria for a mortgage but it doesnt by any means make a good builder.
Taylow Woodrow as mentioned is about the best mass producer of homes in the UK at the moment, stay very clear of wimpey, permission and barretts.
Redrow build some good houses as well.

I've been looking into buying somewhere laterly and started saving. Old buildings that have been converted look about the best deal IMO.

Id say Barratt are about the worst I have worked for & Persimmon are stingy bastards when it comes to them settling bills (probably the reason there the biggest ) There all cowboys actually I like Redrow houses best out of that lot!
I personally wouldnt buy a modern built house for various reasons

It is a good thing, I get to sit in a nice cosy office most the day and come out on site if/when it suits me..........I couldnt be on the tools - I have an interest in DIY and have done a fair bit of building work in my spare time but thats where it ends!
Same as I like tinkering with motors and do almost all my own mods and repairs but could naver be a mechanic......know wot I mean????

yeah agree, thats whay I stay away form the tools and get other people to do it for me. I am not an office person though, I like to be out and about, on site and on the road.
Bit differnt every day which is good with the building trade
I know what you are saying about permission BTW
