Gutted...

Just got the car running something like 100% again. Went out last night, managed one race with an import scoob, which I just pulled away from (but I was 4 up). Blasted it round for a bit longer. Pulled up, then noticed a large amount of steam from the front end. Popped the bonnet and was greeted by even more steam and a fountian of boiling water LOL.

Closer inspection reveals I've put a hole in the radiator

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

So had to limp it home whilst topping it up with water.

If anybody has a radiator from a 1.2 Corsa B lying round they want to part with, drop me a PM to talk Tukey please!

Car is slow on there compared to how it is now.... I will do some more when weather/car allows!

Its fine with a 1.2 rad, it doesn't have a problem running hot anyway

Plus space is an issue!

1.2 1.4 and 1.6 rads are all the same. 1.o 12v and 1.2 16v ones are no good as hoses in the wrong place. diesels are igger and so are cars that have aircon. as u said space is an issue so stick with either 1.2 1.4 or 1.6. and a slim fan instead of turning ur heaters on full

Probably best...... don't want to proove your stupidity any further ROFL...

Ask anybody that knows, a 1.2 rad is easy enough for a LET.

And there are two ways of cooling. Blowing cold air on, or sucking the hot air away. Admittidly the first method will be more effective, but as I have prooven the second method is more than adequate.

Car has never overheated.

you have your blower on all the time

you have a water cooled turbo and a larger capacity engine. while the C20XE might be ok running a standard corsa rad the LET really should have more substantial cooling.

My car is running on a 1985 1.0 8v Nova radiator and fan and its fine with the X16XE.

Can't see why a 1.2 8v rad would'nt be enough for a C20LET to be honest.

Having the heater on does not bother me. I don't drive the car often.

Like OJC says, its a myth you need a monster rad on. My temp never goes over 90 when driving.

If I did use the car every day in the warmer weather I would put a fan on. But if its not broke dont fix it.

but you may get a better running car if you invest in a quality rad, since yours seems to be so unreliable and pissing water into the air

The reason the rad has burst is not down to heat generated.

When driving the temp guage hardly gets off the first two lines. At absolute max it gets to 90. I don't see a point in making it cooler.

Shove an egg in the radiator and see if that seals it
