Simple idea this - wack a blower on a LET for the Lancia Delta feel

so question is, will it work? and has it been done before?

not sounding stupid but aint you suposed to have one or the other? You can do a throttle body conversion with a LET but not ever heard of using both super chargers and turbos together....

Wont be a LET then would it? or am i being silly?

Would make the engine lag free though, if you had a small 'charger that gave boost until a large turbo spooled then you would get smoother power...

well i was thinking about the whole Lancia Delta rally car - had both to overcome the lag the turbo caused, so basically it had power right across the range (i believe the blower cut out at 4500rpm and the turbo then kicked it to the 8/9k limit etc).

But from my understanding, the Let is just an XE with a turbo (of course uprating this and that etc). But you can get supercharger kits for XE's, so why not fit one to a LET?

But yea, the final out come wouldnt be a Let, it would be some hybrid etc

true but how could that be smoother if the charger runs on a pulley thus charging when u accelerate the turbo would come in at a dofferent rate?

But I supose your right if you have a small turbo the lag would be hardly noticble but relitivly pointless if you want big power

aye, but im thinking f'off blower and a f'off turbo - although theres limited space in a corsa under the bonnet with a LET, so im guessing an Astra or Calibra (4x4 maybe as it has the 4x4 system, get power down etc) would be needed for the bigger front

Dam you Dom copying my idea lol.

Yes it can be done but its not the easiest job in the world. There are a few cars with both that I have seen, best one being a skyline.

Compound charging! Big headache I reckon but anything can be done if youve got the cash!

here's an idea why not save the 10k it would cost to get it running properly and semi-reliable and spend it on a quicker car in the first place

lol mate, it was just an idea Plus i dont have the mulla to do this as i can see it easierly being the price of a new corsa to get it done and working.
Plus you would need to do alot of internal work on the LET as is, especially if you looking at running BIG power/boost etc

Plus how reliable is it going to be? Bloke with the charged mk3 astra had problems all the time, so imagine wacking a turbo on top for good measure - just to make sure that when it goes it goes good

however, if this could also be done in a corsa, it would be mazin - although like i said, i doubt there is room under the bonnet of a corsa to fit it all, so a cally/astra/*something else* would be needed.

yeah its doable cos all the charge eventually ends up in one pipe like a twin turbo....

wouldnt like to be the person who designs the managment for though..

Well If you fed the turbos from the super, then I doubt management would be much of a headache, as you'd run consistent boost in the background then get a lump when the turbos spool up. Would be like settin up a normal turbo car but with higher intake pressure to work with

its not too disimlar idea from a lot of the twin turbo diesels out there i.e. the Jag 2.7 Diesel everyone slurps over so look into the design of that for ideas

tbh, i think you would do it the other way around - you would feed the charger from the turbo, like on that skyline photo (from whats being said).

Guess so, I can sorta picture it in my head how it'd work, but can't put it into words
