Been on there for a few hours today playing no limits. Had some decent hands early on and decided to take my winnings and go and play some pretty high stakes limit poker. Some guy lost the plot on my table and gave me about a thousand dollars in under an hour.

Just requested a transfer for $2700 ...... should just about pay off the rest of my student loan

I buy $100 dollars worth of chips into my acount at the start of each month. I have a limit on there so I can not buy any more than that-- its lots safer this way.

I usually enter $5 tornaments with about 2000 people in them....whatever i win i continue to gamble until the end of the month then i cash out all profits. if i get over $300 dollars in my account i switch from playing tornies to playing no limits, or high limit holdem... you can make or lose money very fast in these tables.

However, if i happen to win over $2000 dollars(only happened three times so far) I cash out immiedietely cos it hurts if you lose that much even though its all profit.

Just make sure you set yourself very strict rules of when to cash out and in and you will be fine. Never break the rules you set yourself. I broke mine once and lost $500 in about half an hour.... this is the only time i have been down on the month.

Just play extremely tight and stupid americans will eventually hand their money to you

hehe I've also been playing online poker lately...

At first I was playing too many hands, now I tend to fold unless I have a really good first 2 cards and if on the flop it's shit just fold, unless I know everyone else has fuck all.

It'd fuck me off if I had a decent hand with a pot going to over $200 and I had a power cut.

What a bitch that'd be

I find it very hard to play in the low limit tables.... someone will always call you because you cant raise it enoughe to scare them out of hands.

In these types of games it is a case of just waiting till you get a great hand and trying to lose as little as possible inbetween

They have something called disconnection insurance which basically ends the hand at the point you are disconnected at--- so if you won it the hand continues without you and the money is put into your account.

Oh right all good

So if you're losing and you get disconnected you don't lose your money?

no--- unless you were bluffing with nothing... the other guy was about to fold.. and then you are disconnected.

This happened to me with a lot of money involved.. the cards were turned over and i was caught with nothing... he admitted to me later that he was just about to click the fold button

You should not play poker to try and clear debts definately. You will be in the wrong frame of mind to play disciplined poker if you are trying to win a certain amount.

At its best poker is not gambling... their are times when you know you cannot be beaten--- this seperates poker from all other types of gambling. You should not be gambling at all... you should be making informed bets based on probability and betting patterns.

Their is no such thing as luck in poker

There are lots of very poor players on there who play big limits....... but there are more good players or profesionals than on any other site ive played on.

If you consistently play well you will win in the long run..... but if you play poorly you wont win anything. Most people mistake is getting greedy and going above their limits. If you are consistently winning money at low limits then stay there--- you are being paid to learn the game.

I dont play too much internet poker..... me and my mates play several £2 tornies between ourselfs nearly every day though. This is how you learn the game.

Lots of great poker books and manuals out there as well which are well worth the investment.

Your problem paul is probably that you are being muscled out of hands at the higher limits because other people have lots more funds than you---- doesnt mean they are better players than you but unless you are prepared to match their funds then you should not play against them.

It is a form of gambling if played badly.... If you start trying to get lucky then you will in the long run lose everything
