i hear i've got to take it to a garage and get it declared safe to drive or something this true?

minor write off very minor and apparently the car needs to be checked over again to make sure its all good. this right? if so, then can any garage do it, or just ones that do MOTs?

cheers

You've never gone and bought L33 L3G's old Saxo?

I would think only an MOT testing station would be able to do it...

Who says you have to do this?
Is the car currently on the road taxed tested etc?

More details needed.

There is a form you get of the DVLA which you need to fill in. Think they charge you £30 for it too the cunts. You have to get the car fixed and then someone from the DVLA check the repair.

DVLA never check a repair.

In fact to be honest nobody checks the quality of a repair.
Some damaged repairables more often cat c's need vic checks.
This is a Vehicle I dentity Check and is just that a check of the vehicles identity to make sure its not a ringer. They do not check the repair and the vehicle doenst actually have to be repaired to have a vic.

If its Cat D then the DVLA send someone out to check the car if it has been repaired. You need to call them for a form which cost £30, fill it in and send if off and then they someone out to check the car is road safe etc.

Dunno, i thought you must have deleted it..

Was upto page 7 when i responded to it.. At this stage Paul was wishing you well with your future sales and calling you a nice lad. A couple of us thought that this was a cover up for when he bombs your shed tonight, but he insisted that he was putting the whole scenario behind him..

(Apols for going off topic.. )

yeah i know its a write off but its gotta be the most ridiculous class of write off i've ever seen, must be CLASS 'Z' think the insurance company told the person who i'm buying it off. so if i get insured can i drive it home, without this test/form filled out? is it like when ya got no MOT, i mean if i get stopped, and i've booked it in to be tested that day would that be ok or do i need this test first?

my mate has repaired loads of cat c and d cars. he bought a car a few months ago from overton dismantlers and he didnt even need it checked but sure with a cat c all he has done in the past is take it to the inspection place down the road and give them around £30 and they (dvla) check over the car quickly and says weather its road worthy again. some cars he repaired he used to have the police come out and check but this was only to make sure it wasnt a cut and shut job he was doing so presume this was with ones with big damage.

if a car has been write off u need to take it for a vic check before its allowed back on the road even if its taxed and tested. u will need to book it in at a vic testing station they will decide if the work is up to a good standered before they will allow it back on the road.

heres a bit of info

What is the Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) scheme?
The Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) Scheme came into effect from 7th April 2003 to tackle car crime.
The scheme states that all accident damaged and/or substantially repaired cars recorded by the DVLA (At Universal this translates into ALL CATEGORY C Vehicles and does not include Motorcycles or Commercials) must pass a Vehicle Identity Check at an approved VIC Testing Station before they can be returned to the road. All Universal Catalogues detail "Vehicle Categories".

For more information about the VIC Scheme, along with an up-to-date list of testing stations, please visit the official Vehicle Identity Check site at the Vehicle Inspectorate website.
